What is Tournament Generator?

Tournament Generator is a tool to generate pairings for several different kinds of tournament formats. All you need to do is to provide a list of players and the tournament format. The game pairings for each round are then generated automatically. It currently supports Round-Robin, Swiss System, and Double-Elimination tournaments. It is planned to support Single-Elimination, Free-for-all, and Multi-stage tournaments in the future. If you would like to organize a Chess / Go tournament with a lot of players, you can choose the Swiss system format. If you're organizing a Table Tennis or a Table-Football / Fußball tournament in your office, choose the Double Elimination format. If you have fewer players, want to make sure that everyone plays everyone else, and you have got a lot of parallel playing arrangements, a Round-Robin format is a great choice.

Currently supported tournament formats

Round Robin Tournament

Everyone plays everyone in this format. Suitable for tournaments with either a small number of players or a long time-frame that is enough to host a large number of games.

Swiss-System Tournament

This tournament is held over multiple rounds where winners play winners and losers play losers from the previous round. It is not guaranteed that everyone would play everyone else. Suitable for tournaments with a large number of players and a short / medium time-frame.

Double Elimination Tournament

Any player that loses two games gets eliminated. Suitable for tournaments with a medium / large number of players and a short / medium time-frame.

Planned tournament formats

Single Elimination Tournament

Any player that loses a game gets eliminated. Suitable for tournaments with a large number of players and a short time-frame.

Free-for-All (FFA) Tournament

Tournament where everyone plays against everyone else. Suitable for board games or online FFA games with multiple players.

Multi-stage Tournament

Tournament held over multiple stages. Initial stages are group round-robin or swiss. Later rounds are single / double elimination. Suitable for tournaments with medium / large number of players and a longer time-frame.
